Family Law matters can be extremely stressful and present difficult situations in which you never thought you would find yourself. We will listen to your goals and work with you on a plan of action to attain those legal goals. Please feel free to contact us for a consultation if you are considering the following or any other family law matter:
Mediation provides an opportunity for all parties to openly discuss their goals and work toward a mutually acceptable agreement in their family law case. Mediation removes the stress and uncertainty of the courtroom and puts control of the outcome in the hands of the parties. The mediator is a neutral person who speaks with and listens to all parties and facilitates communications about goals related to the settlement of family law cases. Mediation can be conducted virtually or in-person and the parties can participate face-to-face or in separate rooms. What is discussed in mediation is confidential. Other than information that must be reported by law (child or endangered adult abuse and neglect or an intent to commit a crime), no information is shared with anyone outside of mediation, except to inform the judge if an agreement was reached and if so, what that agreement is. At Rasmussen Law, we encourage and assist parties in having honest, healthy, and solution-focused discussions.
Guardians ad Litem advocate for the best interests of children in family law cases. At Rasmussen Law, in order to gain an understanding of what is in your children's best interest, we take the time to get to know your children, by speaking with them, you, their other parent or legal guardian, other household and family members, and professionals who know your children.
Parenting Coordinators provide support to parents and guardians by managing areas of disagreement, directing the focus of the parties to the needs of the children and educating the parties on how to make decisions that are in the best interest of the children. At Rasmussen Law, we can serve as your parenting coordinator and assist you in understanding how to follow your court order as it relates to your children, work on appropriate communication within the family, establish daily routines for your children's benefit, assist in discussions related to choosing medical care providers, education assistance, and extracurricular activities for your children, and coordinate other matters that impact the best interest of your children.
Domestic Abuse impacts individuals from all backgrounds. When domestic abuse is occurring in your home, it is important to work with an attorney who is familiar with the dynamics of domestic abuse and available resources. Survivors of domestic abuse, sexual assault, and stalking are eligible to file for an Order of Protection and Rasmussen Law can assist you in completing the Petition and represent you at your hearing.
Estate Planning can be difficult, as it can be intimidating to think about death, what might happen to you during an illness, and what will happen to your children, pets, finances, or personal belongings upon your passing. It is important for every person to have a valid Will and other related documents, no matter your circumstances and finances, as these documents can ensure that your loved ones are aware of your wishes and can save your family and friends the stress of not knowing what to do or having to make decisions on your behalf. While you may have some reservations about beginning this process, I hope that you will contact Rasmussen Law to discuss what these documents can do for you, your peace of mind, and your friends and family.
